Graded 35 GD+ 2.5 by SGC. Hall of Famer. This is the only example at its tier (with eight graded higher) among a total of 12 copies recorded in SGC's census reporting. Mike "King" Kelly was one of baseball's earliest and most charismatic stars, and the player about whom the famous song, "Slide, Kelly, Slide," was written. A top performer on the field, he helped lead the Chicago White Stockings to five first-place finishes in a span of seven years (1880- 1886). In 1887, Kelly was sold to Boston for a then-record price, resulting in his "$10,000 Beauty" nickname. A minor tear and minor creasing can be seen on the left side of the obverse; the back is clean. Fantastic eye-appeal, and in Good-plus condition.
