Graded 70 EX+ 5.5 by SGC, the highest-graded copy among three examples holdered by that company. (Competing grading service PSA has not encapsulated a single specimen.) The first baseman, veteran of 17 major league seasons, put together a healthy .299 average while playing for ten clubs between 1889 and 1905. A two-year stint with the Superbas came near the end of Doyle's big-league service time—and established his E107 affiliation. This remarkably well-preserved piece boasts a number of superior attributes: its centering alignment is well-calibrated, its illustration of Doyle in uniform carries impeccable resolution, and its evidence-of-handling wear—restricted to the corners—is minimal in the extreme. The card's fully printed back surface reveals no superfluous markings. Wholly superior Excellent-plus condition.
