"Daddy bought us a glove apiece," Fred Roush once recalled of the fraternal twins' small-town upbringing, "so we'd stop smoking and jumping trains. They were both right-handed gloves, but Edd was a lefty, see? So by gollies, Ed just learned to throw right-handed. Got pretty good at it, too." Fred got pretty good himself, though he is not officially credited as ever having reached the major-league level—this picture notwithstanding. The 7-1/4" x 9-1/4" news-service photo has reverse-side penciled notations reading, "Edd Roush & twin Fred J. Roush / Opening game / April 14, 1925." Condition is EX with editorial outlines and show-through surface impressions from the reverse.
