Just before the Yankees' 12-6 win over the Cubs en route to a World Series sweep, Gehrig hobnobs with former boxing champion Gentleman Jim Corbett and movie star William Collier. Lou would collect a HR, single and walk in the Opening Game and ultimately bat a robust .529 for the Series. Dated 9/28/32, Acme's mostly intact paper caption reads, "THE WORLD SERIES OPENING GAME - Gehrig, Yankee first baseman, with Jim Corbett...and William Collier before the opening of the...game of the World Series at the Yankee Stadium...York City, Sept. 28." There are also later United Press stampings. Condition of the 7" x 9" photo is EX to EX/MT with extraordinarily sharp clarity and stark contrast. Encapsulated as Type I by PSA/DNA.
