This scarce volume was published by the German tobacco company Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken in Altona-Bahrenfeld as a promotion for the company's cigarettes and tobacco. The book and its cards—which are adhered to their proper spaces inside—document athletes and memorable moments of the Xth Olympiad (1932 Summer Games). The book holds 198 different medium- and large-size, color and black-and-white paper cards; athletes and dignitaries appearing on one or more cards include: Sonja Henie, Duke Kahanamoku (2 cards), Buster Crabbe, Babe Didrikson (5 cards) and Herbert Hoover. A frontispiece reveals a portrait of Reichspräsident Paul von Hindenburg, and a large fold-out color chart appears at the back. The 9-1/2" x 12-1/4", 145-page hardcover features an embossed cover. The German-text book's exterior concedes wear, split inner binding and the effects of moisture (about VG overall), with the interior and cards nicer. (Prospects for removal of cards are uncertain.)
