This is a previously unoffered group of photographs from the historic George Michael Photography Collection. Legendary Auctions had the distinct honor of running the bulk of this great collection in our February 2014 auction. None of the photos in this lot were a part of that sale. For the uninitiated, all of the photos belonging to Mr. Michael feature game action of players in the process of sliding into a base or into home plate. By definition, these are the most exciting and closely-decided plays in any game and thus are frequent determiners in wins and losses. Featured here is a very large assortment of 1940s photos most about 7" x 9" or 8" x 10". Notables include Stan Musial, Luke Appling, Hank Bauer, Stan Musial 1948 All-Star Game, Pee Wee Reese / Tommy Heinrich 1941 World Series, Dolph Camili 1941 WS, Frank Crosetti 1942 WS, Hank Greenberg 1945 WS, 1944 All-Star Game, Dom DiMaggio / Marty Marion 1946 ASG, Enos Slaughter 1942 WS, Leo Durocher 1946 NL Playoff, Carl Furillo, Phil Rizzuto 1942 ASG, Vince DiMaggio 1943 ASG, Bobby Doerr 1947 ASG, Frank Crosetti 1943 WS, Johnny Lindell 1943 WS, Bobby Doerr 1946 WS, Yogi Berra 1949 WS, Phil Rizzuto 1949 WS, Lou Boodreau 1948 WS, Larry Doby 1948 WS, Jackie Robinson 1947 WS, Pee Wee Reese 1947 WS, and many more, nearly all from different World Series of the decade.
