The 1944 St. Louis Cardinals ended the season with the incredible record of 105-49 (an amazing .681 winning percentage, among the best of all-time) on their way to an eventual World Series match-up against their housemate St. Louis Browns. This baseball is signed by 24 members of that world championship club. One one sweet spot is manager Billy Southworth and Stan Musial and Walker Cooper on the opposite sweet spot. Also, Enos Slaughter, Ray Sanders, Marty Marion, Johnny Hopp, Ken O'Dea, Whitey Kurowski, Terry Moore, Lloyd Moore, Milt Gonzalez, Johnny Beazley, Murray Dickson and more. A few of these players were on the Cardinals in the 1940s but did not play in 1944 due to military service such as the Moores. There is rather heavy toning due to shellac but the color is consistent and most of the signatures are rather dark, many 7 or 8 of 10 in appearance. Auction LOA from JSA.
