This was to be the only World Series for Ted Williams, but his dreams were smashed by the powerful St. Louis Cardinals club that itself was loaded with superstars. The 1946 World Series was most memorable for Enos Slaughter's dash home from first base on what appeared to be a harmless single late in Game 7, barely beating the throw home from Johnny Pesky. Offered here is an Official NL Ford Frick baseball signed by 28 different members of this great championship club. Harry Walker and Howard Pollet are on the sweet spot. Red Schoendienst and Marty Marion have signed very nicely, but are much darker (and in blue vs. black) than the other signatures and would appear to have been added at some later date. Also signed by Al Brazle, Del Rice, Walt Sessi, Harry Brecheen, Joe Garagiola, Clyde Kluttz, Enos Slaughter, Ken Burkhart, Stan Musial, Johnny Beazley, Fred Schmidt, Eddie Ryan, Terry Moore, Ted Wills, Buster Adams, Nippy Jones and more. Mild toning gives the ball an excellent vintage look and the average signatures rate about 6 of 10 with some better. Auction LOA from JSA.
