This is a previously unoffered group of photographs from the historic George Michael Photography Collection. Legendary Auctions had the distinct honor of running the bulk of this great collection in our February 2014 auction. None of the photos in this lot were a part of that sale. For the uninitiated, all of the photos belonging to Mr. Michael feature game action of players in the process of sliding into a base or into home plate. By definition, these are the most exciting and closely-decided plays in any game and thus are frequent determiners in wins and losses. Offered here is a vast assortment from the 1950s with many or most being 8" x 10" or a little larger. Notables include Ernie Banks, Jerry Coleman, Roy Campanella, Charlie Neal, Dick Groat, Yogi Berra, Larry Doby, Chico Carrasquel, Gil McDougald, Billy Martin, Richie Ashburn, Willie Mays / Luis Aparicio 1958 All-Star Game, Al Kaline / Eddie Mathews in 1959 All-Star Game, Vic Wertz in 1954 World Series, Pee Wee Reese in 1951 NL Playoffs, Jackie Robinson in 1950 All-Star Game, Dom DiMaggio in 1951 All-Star Game, 1958 Frank Robinson, Warren Spahn / Hank Aaron 1958, Jackie Robinson / Bobby Thomson from finale of 1951 NL Playoffs, Red Schoendienst / Nellie Fox 1955 All-Star Game, Ted Kluszewski / Harvey Kuenn 1955 All-Star Game, Duke Snider 1951 NL Playoff, Ernie Banks 1958 All-Star Game, Mickey Mantle 1959 ASG, Yogi Berra 1951 ASG, Roy Campanella 1951 ASG, Enos Slaughter 1950 ASG, Willie Mays 1958 ASG, Jackie Robinson 1955 WS, Phil Rizzuto World Series, and many more with a large majority of those also from different World Series' including Duke Snider spiking Phil Rizzuto in 1952.
