For many years, APBA games have afforded enthusiasts an interactive means of enjoying sporting "action" through the manipulation of stat-coded cards identified by individual athletes' names. New sets are issued periodically to include updated rosters of game cards. Most of these cards are printed on standard, thin-cardboard stock, and resemble 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" playing cards in style; dates of issue range from the 1950s through the 2000s, although many older themes (such as Negro Leagues and 1920s-1930s baseball) are included in their composition. The cards (which are not illustrated, but do carry players' vital statistics) are supplied in envelopes containing full team sets that are typically comprised of 20-30 or more cards, apiece, and are sold in boxes representing full leagues or entire sport categories.
Presented is a hoard of APBA collectibles including: 1) 1954 Original Game Box (GD) and Boards (EX) in Original Shipping Box (EX w/classic "APBA Game Company" mailing label). 2) Newer game box with Connie Mack Stadium Cover (EX/MT), including numerous variations of playing boards and booklets (EX to NM) such as 1929 NL/AL (1993), 1935 NL/AL (1993), 1946 NL/AL (1993), 1955 NL/AL (1991), 1959 NL/AL (1991), 1960 NL/AL (1993), 1990 NL/AL, 1992 NL/AL, and the Phillies from 1915, 1950, 1964, 1980 and 1983. 3) Original APBA Golf game box (EX/MT) with all components, including several different player sets and golf courses, plus several APBA Journal golf-related articles. 4) Three copies of the reference book Forty Years of APBA by Robert E. Schmierer.
As an added bonus, there are 35 autographed cards (NM, "8-10", some signed on reverse) featuring Bollweg, Cepeda (2), Dark, Dickey, Doby, Ennis, Furillo, Garcia, Gehringer, Glynn, Goliat, Hamner, Houtteman, Labine, Lemon, Lopat, McDougald, B.
