Few teams in history capture the imagination of the World Series champion Pittsburgh Pirates of 1960. Of course, they clinched their crown with the first-ever walk-off HR in final game history by Bill Mazeroski, but they also did so against the prohibitively favored New York Yankees juggernaut and despite being heavily outscored during the series. On this very nice and clean Official NL Giles baseball are 26 signatures. Includes Vern Law, Bob Friend, Fred Green, Don Hoak, Joe Christopher, Clem Labine, Bill Virdon, Dick Groat, Gene Baker, Elroy Face, Smoky Burgess, Rocky Nelson, Bob Oldis, Virgil Trucks, Mickey Vernon, Bob Skinner, Harry Bright, Bill Mazeroski, George Witt, Dick Schofield, Joe Gibbon, Harvey Haddix, Jim Umbricht, Vinegar Bend Mizell, Gino Cimoli and Roberto Clemente. Manager Danny Murtaugh is a clubhouse signature. We list Clemente last because his signature is extremely light and hard to read and is even interrupted in several spots on the surface. Most of the rest of the signatures, though, are quite strong and 7 or 8 of 10 quality. Auction LOA from JSA.
