All-Star teams are, by definition, teams of all-stars. Thus, with 14 team-signed balls here, each with 25 or more signatures, that's at least 350 autographs of major stars in this lot. These are all American League teams on official balls and all four of the 1991 balls are official All-Star Game balls. 1982: Official MacPhail ball signed by 31 including Billy Martin, Rickey Henderson, Yaz, Eddie Murray, Dave Winfield, Carlton Fisk, Robin Yount and more. Moderate doses of yellow spotting in places but the signatures are strong enough to overcome that. Nice and clean autographs. 1983: Signed by 31, Rickey Henderson, Harvey Kuenn, Lou Whitaker, George Brett, Rick Sutcliffe, Murray, Yaz, Dave Stieb, Bob Boone, Winfield, Yount, Ron Kittle, Wilile Wilson and more. 1986: Signed by 24. Moderate yellow toning and sigs are a bit lighter on this one, about 5/6 of 10. Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly, Brett, Whitaker, Winfield, Lloyd Moseby, Charlie Hough, Wally Joyner and more. 1987: Signed by 25, Wade Boggs, Tony LaRussa, Bruce Hurst, Bret Saberhagen, Willie Randolph, Jack Morris, Dwight Evans, Harold Reynolds, Harold Baines, Alan Trammell, Brett, Winfield, Mattingly, Kevin Seitzer and more. 1988: Signed by 28. Tom Kelly, Trammell, Winfield, Johnny Ray, Terry Steinbach, Frank Viola, Kirby Puckett, Paul Molitor, Jeff Reardon, Gary Gaetti, Carney Lansford, and more. Two 1989, each signed by 30 or more. LaRussa, Mike Moore, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken Jr., Devon White, Mark McGwire, Puckett, Steve Sax, Mattingly, and more. 1990: Signed by 30, LaRussa, Ellis Burks, Ozzie Guillen, Bobby Thigpen, Julio Franco, Doug Jones, Dave Stieb, Trammell, Boggs, Saberhagen, McGwire, Puckett, Brook Jacoby, and more. Four 1991: Each signed by about 30, Boggs, Ripken Jr., Joe Carter, Molitor, Clemens, Puckett, Morris and more. Two 1994: Signed by 27. Cito Gaston, Ripken Jr., Will Clark, Boggs, Albert Belle, Puckett, Carter, and more.
The 1989 ball and all the 1991s and up are on very nice white balls with strong signatures througout. The other balls all have some degree of yellowing but on the second 1989 ball and the 1990 it's very minimal. On the 1982 ball it's spotty and on the others it's a bit darker and covers most of the ball. The quality of the signatures is pretty strong throughout, none that appear to be drastically light and the appearance on the balls is nice and even and the rare opportunity to acquire so many team-signed balls like these is special. Auction LOA from JSA.
