Intoning Detroit's pennant-winning 1907 season, photographer/publisher H. M. Taylor contemporaneously devised a series of postcards celebrating the American League champions. Adapted from that paper issue shortly thereafter, then, was this magnificent souvenir pin - distinctly reiterating the young and highly poised Ty Cobb. The unique image is illustrated in black-and-white - therefore much prone to disappointments in condition with the passing years. This one, on the other hand, has survived with virtually no deterioration - its white surfaces remaining uncorrupted by any toning. Moreover, the integrity of the 1-1/4-inch pin's contour is as original. Also to be welcomed is the period-primitive needle fastening device. We note only a couple minute blemishes in the pin's perimeter and a trace of oxidation on the raised surface of the reverse. But this treasure would be welcomed by the advanced hobbyist at NM.
