During World War II, many local celebrities and athletes were recruited by the Government to promote the war effort on the home front. This poster features Cubs standout Gabby Hartnett doing his part by asking everyone to "Work Together." Hartnett is pictured crouching in full catcher's gear as he flashes the "V for Victory" sign to the American people. A copyright date of 1944 is listed along the bottom. The poster exhibits no fading, and all four of its corners are sharp. The only flaws to the 24" x 36" piece are two very small tears (each 1/2" or less) at the edges, and a longer rip in the bottom-right corner. Overall appearance is Near Mint. Hartnett was not only one of the greatest players in Cubs history, but also one of the most popular. His dramatic 1938 "Homer in the Gloamin'" against the Pirates is still considered one of the most memorable events in baseball history. A magnificent war era display piece!
