Offered here is a Joe Jackson "40 JJ" decal bat turned during the peak of the infamous slugger's storied playing career. A sizable, 34 1-2", 41-oz. weapon, this flame-treated, white ash lumber has the decidedly darkened hue of one of Jackson's famed "Black Betsy" models. The deep and legible centerbrand reads "J.F. HILLERICH & SON Co," dating the relic to the 1911-1916 labeling period. (Incidentally, in the first year of that span, Jackson hit .408 in his first full campaign on the shores of Lake Erie.) On the barrel, the decal presents minimally at the VG condition level, with some minor flaking, in all about 70% of the decal is still present. The display quality of the cracked bat is VG-EX.
