Graded 84 NM 7 by SGC. Hall of Famer, in a debut-year, “rookie card” appearance. Although the number 407 Mathews card has less notoriety as a condition rarity than the issue's number 1 Pafko, it's still a very elusive collectible for anyone putting together a quality 1952 Topps set. The image on the front of the offered Mathews is nicely positioned—in spite of the card's original location on its factory press sheet, a factor that typically conspired to thwart precision in image alignment. And, uncommonly sharp edge cuts have contributed very positively to the integrity of this item's corners, which exhibit minor touches. This exceptional last-card-in-set from its "high number" series is clean and fresh, with full gloss, a stellar portrait of its subject Hall of Famer, in Near Mint condition.
