First appearing in 1919 on the campus of Notre Dame University, the Juggler was a student publication that continued, intermittently, for several decades. Tending to be non-literary in its mien, the Juggler provided recreational reading for the student body. (The title for the periodical likely traces to the old French tale of the juggler who had no gift for the Christ Child – a story that’s akin to the Little Drummer Boy.) In any event, Notre Dame’s Juggler in 1924 included a supplement in its publication – a full-body, uniformed pose of the football team’s “Captain Elect,” Adam Walsh. Walsh is generally overlooked on that National Champion team. He was the center (in front of the Four Horsemen), and he won All-American honors in 1924. The paper photo is blank-backed; it measures 7” x 10-1/2”, and it is in NM condition.
