Between 1926 and 1931, Miller Huggins and Connie Mack snatched up every A.L. pennant—plus two world championships apiece. Here, the dueling adversaries sport their respective game-day uniforms and shake hands by the dugout. An Associated Press paper caption on the 8" x 10" photo's reverse reads, "THE BRAINS BEHIND THE GUN - Miller Huggins (left), manager of the Yankees, and Connie Mack, manager of the Athletics, whose teams clashed for first place at Yankee Stadium, New York." The caption dates to September 9, 1928, while an additional stamping points to a later publication usage on September 14. There is minor incidental paper loss in the upper corners, a few surface wrinkles, and two fingerprints impressions (apparently from the original negative). Encapsulated by PSA DNA.
