The most desirable of the standard baseball bobbin' head dolls are the character heads. This terrific lot contains three different, very desirable examples of that type. These three are early series with white-bases. They are designated as ranging from "scarce" to "rare" by Tim Hunter, author of the Bobbin' Head Guide, with the Cincinatti "Ball Head" rating among the top three most valuable of all those in the team sets. The first series of Bobbin' Heads Baseball dolls was produced only from 1961 to 1962, with bases in varying colors, including white, and they are considered to be the toughest set to complete. The '62-'63 run were all done in white bases, so it is nearly impossible to tell if these are 1st or 2nd series, but they are early. White base figures like these are generally the most valuable version if the figure was ever produced in that variation. All three exhibit some light suface dirt and yellowing of their decals, but none are chipped or cracked. The three included in the lot are Chicago Cubs (EX-NM, scarce "Bear Head" version with ball); Cincinatti Reds(EX-NM, small color flake on one ear, rare "Ball Head" with ball version); St. Louis (EX, a couple of paint flakes on hat brim and head feather, "s" in Louis decal is chipped off, rare "Bird Head" version with ball).
