This OAL (Harridge) baseball has been signed by Dizzy Dean ("7") in blue ink across a side panel. The tiny initials "R.M.Q" have been written in blue ink, along the stitching, on an adjacent side panel. Those initials (as explained in an accompanying letter) are those of the consignor's husband, who, at the age of eleven, had Dean sign the ball for him at a restaurant in 1946. It's always curious that Dean, unlike most players when signing a ball, normally chose to sign the side panel rather than the sweet spot, as a large percentage of Dean singles found in the hobby are signed in that manner. Oh well, I guess that explains why they called him "Dizzy." All of the official ball markings remain bold and distinct and the ball is only slightly toned, retaining much of its original white hue. Excellent condition overall. An outstanding single signed baseball from one of baseball's greatest pitchers and most irrepressible characters. LOA from James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA.
