In a little over four months from the dating of this letter, Saddam Hussein would order his troops to begin their full-scale invasion of neighboring Iran. It would be a two-year war that would cost over one million lives, with neither country gaining anything from the conflict. At the time this letter was signed, Hussein's troops were organizing near the Iranian border, occasionally engaging the Iranian border guard in heated fire fights. The typed and signed letter is a Decision from the "Revolution's Supreme Council," ordering the appointment of a Lieutenant Pilot Ali Omran Mosa to a civilian position at the Ministry of Transportation. Roughly measuring 8" x 11" in size, the letter has the embossed emblem of the Council at its top-center. It is Excellent in appearance, with light age toning on two edges and small staple holes in evidence, primarily at the top right corner. Appropriately enough, the military despot has signed it in blood-red ink (grading "9"). A complete translation of the order's short text will be provided with the original. LOA from James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA.
