An array of 15 cards from the 1954 Wilson Franks release is presented, with each of the glorious items graded and encapsulated by PSA. The beautiful cards from the one-year-only Wilson set are so difficult to find that hobbyists spend years searching for even a few high grade specimens to add to their collections. It's a pursuit that's well worthwhile, however, since many of the period's top stars are depicted on these elusive collectibles. The great ballplayers are portrayed with considerable charm, too, as their colorful, detailed likenesses are accompanied in each item's design by a package of the manufacturer's hot dog product. In addition to their indisputable scarcity, the cards have also been saddled with unfair condition liabilities. The wide expanse of background color on each piece has allowed for only the narrowest of borders (creating a concomitant difficulty in centering). Finally, the cards were packaged with meat, thus inducing yet another, painfully obvious problem affecting many of the industry's Wilson specimens. For these reasons, an extremely high proportion of the high grade cards on PSA's Population Report have been given "qualifiers." Although perhaps technically accurate where they've been assigned, these parenthetical notes have not jeopardized the overwhelming visual appeal of this sparkling line-up. Includes: Graded PSA NM-MT 8 (MC): 4 cards w/Kuenn, Richards, Stephens and White; PSA NM-MT 8 (OC): 1 card, Sauer; PSA NM 7: 3 cards w/Feller, Groth and Schoendienst; PSA NM 7 (MC): 1 card, Erskine; PSA EX-MT 6: 2 cards w/Campanella and McMillan; PSA EX 5: 1 card, Schoendienst; PSA VG-EX 4: 2 cards w/Ennis and Fain; PSA VG 3: 1 card, Kuenn. In every respect, this is a thoroughly enviable selection from an incredibly popular - and super-scarce - specialty issue.
