Each of these four balls, relating to the 1954 World Series, originates from the personal collection of former American League umpire Charlie Berry (1942-62). 1954 AL Champs Cleveland Indians Team Signed Ball: 25 blue inks sigs. ("8-10") on a lightly-toned OAL (Harridge) ball including Lopez (ss, clubhouse), Feller (twice), Doby, Garcia, Newhouser, Wynn, Wertz, Lemon, Hegan, Rosen, Avila, Houtteman, Hooper and Dente. Newhouser's signature is of more recent vintage. 1954 World Champion New York Giants Team Signed Ball: 27 blue ink sigs on a lightly-toned and shellacked OAL (Harridge) ball including Durocher (ss), Liddle, Irvin, Westrum, Dusty Rhodes, Mueller, Thompson and Jansen. The signatures of Mays and Wilhelm are not included. 1954 World Series Umpire Ball: this creamy-toned shellacked ONL (Giles) ball has been signed in blue ink ("8-9") by the six umpires who worked the 1954 World Series; Jocko Conlan (ss), Charlie Berry, Al Barlick, Larry Napp, Lon Warneke, and Johnny Stevens. Miscellaneous World Series Ball: This lightly shellacked OAL (Harridge) ball is inscribed "Cleveland-World Series" and "World Series 1954" on the sweet spot. The ball bears a number of extremely light blue ink signatures which are no longer legible. Most likely a World Series game used ball but without definitive documentation.
