Bette Davis, whose career spanned six decades and over 80 films was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning twice. She was known in Hollywood for playing strong and complex roles, starring opposite of screen legends Humphrey Bogart, Henry Fonda and George Arliss. With eyes that could pierce the strongest of men in this offered studio portrait, Davis has been photographed by famed Hollywood photographer Muky. The 11" x 14" black and white portrait, which has been framed and matted to an overall size of 17-3/4" x 21-1/2" has been signed in a spectacular black fountain pen, "To Muky with my very best wishes, Bette Davis." The autograph and inscription are flawless while the image of Davis is from her prime in the 1940's. Menyhert Munkacsi became known as "Muky" to all of Hollywood during his 25 year career as the chief photographer for the Warner Brothers Studio. The photo has some light creasing, otherwise Excellent or better condition. An absolutely magnificent signed image.
