This example of the desirable Buck Rogers pocket watch is still held within a complete example of the very rare original box (neat splits to all four corners of the lower box section and to two on the colorfully illustrated lid—still tight, glossy, and approaching NM in appearance). The box still possesses its original golden die-cut insert (slight scuffing at the top from the extended winder) and a perfect directions sheet. (This box is the original that was used to produce the reproduction that was issued years ago.) Measuring 2" in diameter, the large pictorial, fully functioning pocket watch remains in solidly working NM condition. Its colorful face pictures the comic strip heroes Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering, with Wilma appearing to hold the seconds' indicator dial. Over the pair of adventurers circle a large pair of copper watch hands, both designed to look like lightning bolts. On the back of the watch's shiny, silvery case is an inscribed image of an attacking Comet Man. There is no oxidation on the coppery hands and none of the common scratching on either the printed face or the glass bezel. Small and light surface effects on the silvery case are the only minor imperfection to be mentioned. The exemplary piece is a true treasure, full of that vintage flavor that collectors find so desirable and in a state of high grade preservation that guarantees it to be irresistible.
