On April 14, 2001 Alex Rodriguez connected for his second home run of the season and 191st of his career in a 9-8 victory over the A's. That home run, which took place in Oakland, came in the fourth inning off of A's starter Barry Zito. Offered is the very bat used by Rodriguez on that day. The black 34-3/4", 34-oz. signature model "R205" bat is composed of top quality white ash and features deep and distinct manufacturer's stampings throughout. The bat's provenance is attested to by Rodriguez himself, who has inscribed it in silver Sharpie ("9-10") along the sweet spot of the barrel, "Alex Rodriguez - 2001 Game Used - HR #2." The bat is uncracked and displays heavy game use including ball marks, grain swelling along the hitting surface and a slight area of grain separation directly below the inscription. Additionally, the original black finish has been removed from the knob to an area approximately 10" up the handle. Factory records indicate a shipment of 12 of these bats to Rodriguez on 3/8/01. Graded A10 by SCD Authentic. LOAs from Dan Knoll & Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic, and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA.
