Despite the passing of over 75 years the mystique of the 1927 New York Yankees "Murderer's Row" continues to resonate through each and every new chapter in the history of our national pastime. As legendary teams go the 1927 Yankees had it all; the two greatest players in the game at the time in Babe and Lou Gehrig, a lineup that featured five .300 hitters, the best pitching staff in baseball and the perfect finale to any team's season; a four game sweep of their opponent in the World Series. The fact that they did it all over again the following year didn't hurt their reputation either. Presented is a spectacular 8" x 10" first-generation team photo of the 1927 Yankees taken at Yankee Stadium. Captured in a classic team pose are 31 members of that legendary club including Ruth, Gehrig, Huggins, Lazzeri, Pennock, Meusel, Koenig, Hoyt and Combs. Its subject matter notwithstanding, the photo is exceptional with regard to its clarity and contrast. Even the minutest details, including the buttons on their shirts the the laces on their shoes, are clearly visible in this wonderful image. The photo displays a few minor handling faults along the border and corner areas, as well as some extremely unobtrusive surface wrinkles (visible only when viewed at certain angles), that in no way detract from its spectacular Excellent to Mint appearance. An exceptional and visually appealing first-generation image of baseball's greatest ball club.
