Commemorating Charles Lindbergh's extraordinary aerial adventure, these substantial and rare bookends are perfect for physically supporting any literary collection. The four pairings offered here—all of which were produced during the early 1930's—include: 1) Charles in Front of his Plane - These very heavy bronze bookends depict the famous aviator happily waving as he stands in front of his majestic plane, the Spirit of St. Louis. This remembrance of Charles' historic flight is set against a background that visually dramatizes his journey from America to France. (5-1/2"-tall); 2) The Spirit of St. Louis w/Clouds - These golden relics, with their lighthearted and attractive design, show a soaring Spirit of St. Louis as she floats among a sky filled with swirling clouds. (5"-tall); 3) Lindbergh w/Propeller - A movable propeller tops a figural engine-front design which, in turn, incorporates an allegorical visage. (7"-tall); and 4) Lindbergh New York-to-Paris Montage - Alluring and nostalgic, these bronze bookends feature a montage of symbols of a young "Lucky Lindy's" transatlantic flight, including a skyscraper from New York, the Eiffel tower, the subject's trusty plane and a likeness of the man himself. (5"-tall) All four pairs exhibit clean and undamaged condition (with minor aging by evidence of patina), and stand ready to adorn a discerning collector's bookshelf.
