Offered here are five incredible autographed items representing a diverse selection of individuals active in the arts and/or literature throughout the 19th and 20th Centuries. The quintet includes: Giuseppe Verdi—signed letter (5-1/4" x 8-1/4") written by the Italian composer to a friend and bearing his unique rounded signature; Horace Greeley—letter (5" x 8") written and signed by the American newspaper editor on official Tribune letterhead; Eugenio di Pirani—a vintage 5" x 6-3/4" matte-finish photo of a bust of di Pirani, the Italian composer, penned by the subject in fountain pen; Alexandra Tolstoy—vintage sepia-toned, 5" x 7" photo of the wife of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy sitting at her writing desk, her fountain pen script appearing in the lower margin; Jack Kerouac—signed bank check, dated December 10, 1958 and signed in blue ballpoint by the renowned Beat Poet; a pink bank stamping on the reverse is barely visible from the front, and official cancellation holes do not approach the signature. All items are in minimally Excellent condition with strong, well-preserved signatures that show at the "9-10" level. The Kerouac and Verdi pieces are accompanied by attractive illustrations.
