A feast for the eyes, this 5-3/4"-tall tankard boasts an elaborate transfer montage of timeless patriotic symbolism: Washington and Lady Liberty bringing freedom to America; a map of the Eastern seaboard; and the embodiments of Wisdom and Justice inspiring Benjamin Franklin to write with his quill, "America Independence 4 July 1776." The delicate transfer, rare in tankard form, was designed by "F. Morris and Shelton." It is wonderfully rendered and pleasingly dark, offering exceptional contrast against the off-white backdrop. There is no imprint on the underside of the tankard, and its width is 5-3/4" from the handle to the far edge. While close inspection reveals a miniscule chip at top center of the interior chamber and modest wear along the lip and the handle, the liverpool tankard displays as Near Mint in appearance.
