A key component of Chicago's "Go-Go" White Sox 1959 American League championship squad, Arkansas-born backstop Sherm Lollar launched a career-best 22 homers that year in helping to lead the team to its first pennant in 40 years. Offered here is an H&B signature model bat brandished by Lollar during his days in the Windy City. The 35", 33-1/2-oz. weapon hails from the 1950-1960 labeling period and can be narrowed to the final eight years of that run by a black-marker notation of "10" on the knob (Lollar did not wear that number until the 1953 season). Interestingly, the white ash bat has model number engravings of both "R43" and "D89" upon the knob—the latter an obvious mis-stamp. The item shows significant use, with heavy ball and deeply embedded stitch marks throughout, as well as grain swelling and checking on the hitting surface. Graded A-7.5 by MEARS. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS, John Taube/PSA.
