Here offered is a quartet of H&B bats- each one actually used by a member of the Bronx Bombers. With evidence of significant use, noted these include white ash hitting weapons employed by: Bobby Del Greco - a 35", 31-oz. "S2" signature model with ball, cleat and deeply embedded stitch marks, grain swelling and checking on the barrel and a 5" handle crack. In part-time service with the Yanks during 1957-58, Del Greco went a combined 4-for-12. Graded A-7.5 by MEARS; Pedro Gonzalez - a 35", 31-oz. "K55" signature model wielded by the four-position utilityman during the 1963, '64 and '65 seasons. The bat (turned during the 1961-1964 labeling period), reveals ball, stitch and surface marks throughout, as well as a 10" H-shaped handle crack and 5-1/2" chunk of wood missing from the hitting surface. Gonzalez' black-marker signature ("10") and inscription of "Best Wishes" lie between the centerbrand and barrel stampings and a black-marker notation of his number "42" appears on the knob. Graded A-5.5 by MEARS; Frank Leja - a 35", 28-1/2-oz. "R43" signature model used by the first baseman (who collected one hit in 23 career at-bats) during his Yankee tenure between 1954 and 1955. Shows (surprisingly) ball, cleat and deeply embedded stitch marks throughout, as well as grain swelling and a crack whose length is obscured by a 10" layer of black tape. Graded A-7 by MEARS; and Eddie Robinson - the most well-known of the foursome. Robinson used this 34", 34-oz. "R14" signature model during his spell (1954-1956) in the Bronx. Use is evidenced by ball, bat-rack and deeply embedded stitch marks throughout, as well as grain swelling and a criss-cross layer of vintage white tape on the handle. Robinson's black-marker signature ("10") is accompanied by an inscription of "Best Wishes - NY YANKEES - 1954-1956 - #36." There is a black-marker inscription of "7" on the knob, suggesting possible use by teammate Mickey Mantle or a player with that uniform number on another of Robinson's seven different teams of that decade. Graded A-8 by MEARS. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS, John Taube/PSA, Steve Grad/PSA DNA and James Spence Authentication.
