Offered is a collection that hails from the unveiling of one of the sporting world's most revered venues, Chicago's Soldier Field. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the historic site has housed crowds of 120,000-plus for events the likes of a Dempsey/Tunney heavyweight bout in 1927 and the city's famed "Prep Bowl" between Austin and Leo High Schools some 10 years later. Included in this lot is a vintage panoramic photo print depicting the 1926 Army/Navy football game that took place as the stadium was formally dedicated as Soldier Field. Housed in a 29-3/8" x 12" wooden frame, this 27-1/2" x 10-1/8" visible black-and-white image reveals a north-bound view of an absolute packed house with the printed legends "29TH ANNUAL FOOT-BALL GAME - ARMY VS NAVY - NOVEMBER 27TH, 1926 - FORMAL DEDICATION OF SOLDIER FIELD CHICAGO" and "ARMY 21 NAVY 21." Also included is an actual ticket stub from that famed academy grid tilt—a 5-3/4" x 2-5/8" voucher with a printed seating legend and decor that resembles U.S. currency. The green-hued admission pass is housed in a 7-3/4" x 5-3/4" wooden frame with black matting. Both display items present at the apparent EX/MT-condition level. Included, as well is a 144-page program hawking the dedication and football classic. Complete with Army/Navy grid history and depictions of political powers Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover—as well as photos of game principals from both Annapolis and West Point—the program remains EX/MT.
