Until June 12, 1939, the National Baseball Hall of Fame had existed only in the abstract. To that date, 16 of the game's immortals had been "enshrined," but the actual dedication of the museum was orchestrated to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of baseball's mythical invention. With immense pomp and grandeur, the dedication of the Hall proceeded in fine ceremony on that date, and three mementos from that watershed event are now presented. Specifically, these are: 1) A First Day Cover bearing the cacheted image of the museum's facade. Postmarked "Cooperstown N. Y. June 12, 1939," it is EX/MT; 2) An Official Program from the celebratory 1939 game played at Doubleday Field. This extravaganza was essentially an amicable All-Star event pitting the [Honus] Wagners against the [Eddie] Collins. The 40-page program is unscored and it's in about VG/EX condition with moderate splitting at the spine; and 3) The corresponding ticket to that game. This is a full ticket in about EX condition with light wear at the corners and a couple superficial creases.
