How did Honus Wagner celebrate his first and only World Series championship? Apparently by spending the off-season as a basketball coach. Honus stands at far left in this mounted photo of the "Crafton" squad, a semi-pro team located outside Pittsburgh. Interestingly, the caption lists him as "CAPT. & FORWARD," even though Wagner would appear to be about twice the age of his team's players. White lettering on the basketball pinpoints the photo to "1910," and there is also a more precise date located beneath one of the chairs at far right, "MAR-15-10." The sepia photo exhibits phenomenal image clarity, measures 7-3/4" x 9-1/2" and bears some mottling to the surface. The slightly worn mount spans dimensions of 11" x 13-3/4". Little do many people know, but Wagner was actually a talented hoopster in his own right. Yes, long before Air Jordan, there was the Flying Dutchman!
