This 11"-square kerchief celebrates the Father of Our Country with a central full-length depiction based on Gilbert Stuart's famous portrait, flanked by an excerpt of Washington's Farewell Address on the left and a brief eulogy on the right. Bunting along the top reads "THE EFFECT OF PRINCIPLE - BEHOLD THE MAN"; symbolic imagery adorns the bottom area. Moderate surface soiling and staining is evident, and the unstitched edges demonstrate expected light wear. The pinkish-red printing remains bright and all of the text is legible. Ridgeway's Threads of History documents a blue-and-white version of this same kerchief. Handsomely matted and framed to measure 19-1/4" x 19-1/4".
