Shadow Comics V.9 #2 (5/49) - CGC Universal Grade 9.4, with off-white to white pages (Bob Powell cover and art). At the time of this writing, the CGC Census reports that this is the highest graded of the two copies of this issue that they have reviewed (one at 9.4, with the only other graded copy appearing on the report as a 3.5). Shadow Comics was one of those grand old Golden Age hero titles that got better and better as its life was drawing to a close. It would seem that despite the fact that his radio show would continue strongly for another five years, it just wasn't enough to keep the hero alive in print. Both his pulp and his comic book careers would be terminated during this year, with this scarce later issue appearing just three months before the end. Tough to find, especially in high grade (one of those black cover nightmares for condition-conscious collectors), this issue is particularly desirable for its heavy Bob Powell content. In the past we were fortunate enough to be able to sell the Mile High Shadow Comics run and we can tell you that this later issue can hold its own against any in that crowd! It's an absolute gem.
