Classic June 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on:
Ten of these 11 dessert boxes contain cards on their backs from Royal Desserts' two different Howdy Doody sets: the F219-7 "Royal Trading Cards - Howdy Doody Star" set (8 different, five of which are unopened) and the F219-9 "Howdy Doody TV Stars Coloring Cards" release (2 different unopened boxes). These little 3-1/2" x 2-7/8" x 1-1/8" boxes represent a variety of powdered product mixes that would make tasty puddings, pie fillings and gelatin desserts. The inclusion of printed Howdy Doody cards upon the packages was obviously to provide a kid-oriented premium that would hopefully convince mom to put the Jello box back on the shelf and pick up the equivalent Royal product. While ten of these boxes display the valuable cards on their backs, the eleventh and final box in this group has none. But it does sport a head shot of Howdy on both sides and displays the same "Howdy Doody's Favorite" tag line as all the others.
Also includes: F219-7 "Royal Trading Cards - Howdy Doody Star" (8) — 5 unopened boxes w/card #'s 1 (Howdy; GD box and card, with product staining on lower box areas), 2 (Mr. Bluster; EX/MT box with some creases in the card), 7 (Buffalo Bob; EX box, with tape pull on bottom end label whose paper loss doesn't affect the EX/MT card on the reverse), 9 (Lanky Lou; EX/MT box with EX card), and 11 (Pierre-the-Chef; NM/MT box and card), plus 3 opened boxes w/card #'s 3 (Flub-A-Dub; VG box and card), 4 (Dilly Dally; GD box—due to being pinched flat down one long end—some missing end flaps at one end, but the outer flap is still present; card is VG), and 5 (the Inspector; EX/MT box that is missing the end flaps from one end; card remains EX/MT).
F219-9 "Howdy Doody TV Stars Coloring Cards" (2) — 2 unopened boxes w/card #'s 4 ("Chief Thunderthud finds that there are Indians in other parts of the world."; NM box and card with pale cream coloring in the white areas) and 7 ("Howdy Doody waves good-bye to his friend's starting on a trip."; NM box and card with brilliant white areas).
