Among the wide variety of premium delights dispensed by Quaker Oats during the term of their endorsement contract with Babe Ruth was the circular hand-held scorer offered here. Produced for Quaker Oats by the Parisian Novelty Company of Chicago, the score counter incorporates a tightly-cropped Ruthian photo portrait on the obverse with finely crafted and sturdy scoring mechanisms on the reverse that are decorated by a refreshing four-color game illustration. The few scorers available in today's hobby are principally of the Boston Braves type, like this one, but they are seldom found with the original leatherette, buckled fob strap that this example still displays. The scorer is solidly NM/MT, with no trace of imperfection to be found upon its fragile celluloid surfaces. The strap displays a little bit of wear around its single locking notch and a touch of oxidation on its buckle's locking tooth (in the lower area that is closest to the strap).
