"Champion Meets Champion" - Babe Ruth and Duke Kahanamoku 1940s News Service Photograph

Though later conveyed to the custody of The Sporting News, this news service photo originated with "News of Hawaii," and we surmise it dates to the late 1930s or early 1940s. Posed here are Babe Ruth (the global ambassador) with Olympic Champion swimmer (and trailblazer in popularizing the wonderful diversion of surfing) Duke Kahanamoku. The photo is 7-3/4" x 9-1/2" and it's in strong Excellent condition with only some minor faulting at the corners to report. There are no creases or blemishes, and the reverse still holds the original typed caption for media distribution.
