Signed as an 18-year-old amateur free agent in 1966, former big leaguer Larry Cox honed his skills in the minors for seven seasons—auditioning on the mound, as well as behind the plate—before debuting with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1973. Here offered is a Phillies home jersey worn by Cox during the club's 1970 spring training session in Clearwater, Florida. This cream-colored flannel button-down garment features a red pinstripe pattern and the team's curvaceous "P' logo embroidered to the left breast in deep red fabric. In like fashion, "57" is sewn to the back and right front. Red trim lines the shoulders and sides, while, within the collar, a felt strip tag has a chain stitched "Cox" identifier. On the tapered left front tail, a "Wilson" size "40" label is accompanied by embroidered notations of "40 - 70 Set 1." Not quite ready for "The Show" that year, Cox hit .217 for Class AA Reading and followed that up with a .125 effort at Triple-A Eugune. The jersey shows moderate wear. Nice condition example of style. LOA from Mastro Auctions.
