In 2001, Barry Bonds rewrote the record books by clouting an incredible 73 home runs. That year, the athlete's method of punishing pitchers in longball fashion also placed Bonds within a fraternity of some of the game's most prolific offensive talents: the "500 Home Run Club." Well past his 500th round-tripper and on his way to the historic season total of 73, Bonds employed the offered bat and jersey when he struck home run number 553. Includes: Game Used Bat - This "SAM" "LK1" pro model lumber is uncracked and carries outstanding overall use. The 2001 gamer bears ball marks at the right and left barrels, some of the right barrel hits resulting in color transfer. A light coat of pine tar adorns the handle, and also found at the handle is 14" of spiral, criss-crossed athletic tape. Bonds boldly signed the bat in silver Sharpie ("10"), and an additional gold ink notation of reads, "9-4-01 - #553." Accompanying this item is a "Barry Bonds Authenticated" COA. Bonds' epic blast represented his 59th home run of the season. Game Used Home Jersey - The white knit, button-down jersey shows "GIANTS" across the chest in black-orange-and-gold tackle twill lettering. The athlete's number "25" is featured on the back in like fashion, and the team's orange-black-and-orange stripe patter lines the neck and arm openings. The Giants' logo patch is sewn to the left sleeve, and Major League Baseball's emblem is situated to the back of the jersey, just below the collar. Stitched to the front left tail is Russell Athletic manufacturer's tag, as well as a "Barry Bonds Authenticated" patch (which is accompanied by a certificate). Found below the "5" numeral on the back of the piece is the superstar's "Barry Bonds - HR 553 - 9/4/01" autograph (black Sharpie, "10"). Light wear. LOAs from PSA DNA & Graded GU-10 and LOA from JSA.
