Presented is a 1937 Dietz Gum Co. "Presidents Play Bucks" 32-piece complete set with box. The hobby refers to this set as "Presidents Play Bucks" for obvious reasons, but the Dietz Gum Co. makers always called their product "President's Gum." The American Card Catalog lists the set as R118, and we can tell from the copyright date on each front that the set was produced in 1933, a year that corresponds with FDR's first term as President of the United States. FDR is the final subject in the set, bringing the set's total count to 32. All 32 pieces of this presidential portrait currency display the expected re flattened vertical fold line at their center point, from their original folding for insertion into their product wrappers. Considering that all of the standard issues of these "bucks" got their start this way, it's amazing that the thin paper premiums survived at all. This is particularly striking when you view the exceptional condition of this full set. Even more notable is the inclusion of the set's one accessory, the special card stock "Pocket History Album." The little folding box with a locking tab was designed to hold and protect the 32 different money pieces. This example of the seldom seen accessory is exceptional, presenting at the EX level due only to very light corner wear and a bend at the locking tab. It technically grades lesser due to pencil markings on the inside of the box. Grades 59% EX to EX/MT including a couple nicer, 41% VG to VG/EX including a few lesser.
