Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by PSA/DNA. A flowing "8-9" blue ballpoint example of Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente's signature is presented here. Penned on a 2-3/4" x 1-1/2" page fragment adhered to another 3-1/4" x 2-3/8" cut, his full-name scripting projects tremendous strength. The paper elements show generally EX quality (with a single fold in the smaller, autograph-bearing piece). Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Clemente spent his entire 18-year major league career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, compiling a lifetime batting average of .317 and garnering his 3,000th hit in the last game of the 1972 season. His life was cut short on New Year's Eve of that same year when an airplane in which he was traveling—loaded with supplies for earthquake victims in Nicaragua—crashed off of the Puerto Rican coast. Clemente was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973.
