Each item has been assessed and encapsulated "Authentic" by PSA. As any prudent publisher knows, it's important to cooperate with governmental dictates when releasing new material. One little-known procedure within the realm of such compliance is the requirement that copies of printed works be submitted to the U.S. Library of Congress, whereupon that institution validates the item's Copyright Registration. Offered is a collection of 11 different registration cards which verify that the Goudey Gum Co. performed as requested in the face of this convention. The cards individually describe single subjects from the concern's 1934 Big League Chewing Gum card set—while referring to them as "Books"—as having been duly processed. The off-white and partially printed, G.P.O. pieces (which measure about 2-7/8" x 4-7/8" and bear the facsimile signature of the Register of Copyrights) are absolutely unique relics that inspire one thought, in particular: "Where, now, are the file-copy examples of the original '34 Goudey cards that were given to the Library, as certified by these records?" That's a question for another day, but these official pieces are sufficiently compelling unto themselves. Each form has been filled in by hand to denote the specific gum card to which it applied. Includes: PSA Authentic: 11 cards w/#'s 11 P. Waner, 14 Kamm, 21 Terry, 24 Benge, 26 G. Walker, 32 Ryan, 35 Lombardi, 38 Hildebrand, 39 F. Walker, 48 Carleton and 63 Hayes. The items carry apparent EX to EX/MT display quality, and each has a certifying embossment in its lower left corner. An intriguing selection of one-of-a-kind foundation pieces!
