Graded 84 NM 7 by SGC. This is the only example at its tier (with none graded higher) among a total of eighty-nine copies recorded in SGC's census reporting. Offered is a luscious caramel card of the "Georgia Peach" Ty Cobb -- the greatest hitter the National Pastime may ever see -- from the onset of his lengthy career with the Detroit Tigers. Although this desirable piece is properly lauded in its present encapsulation, a number of its positive intangibles, still, are left unaccounted-for by the numerical assessment. Cobb's image is commendably well-focused for the issue, with notably fine definition in the details of his face and uniform. The landscape background illustration has suffered no interference from time's effects, with condition discrepancies justifying the grade wholly (and almost indiscernibly) confined to the corners' tips. The ballplayer's likeness is complete and fully presentable, as is all of the card's print on both front and back sides. Like many "E" cards, the offered relic is composed of fragile stock that has been shown to be next-to-impossible to preserve under anything less than optimal conditions. This one's a standout, the best confirmed within its extremely limited peer group. Fabulous Near Mint condition.
