This finest-imaginable representation of an elusive issue includes: E171 “Hall of Fame for Great Americans” Uncut Panel – Featuring the complete set of eight segments (collectively depicting such luminaries as Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln, plus great inventors, scientists and figures from the literary world), this 11-7/8” x 6-1/8” panel also carries advertising for Heide’s candies, and is fully printed on both sides. A grand display of the insert series’ concept, the piece shows EX quality with three horizontal mailing folds not affecting the small and colorful, detailed portraits; E171 “Hall of Fame for Great Americans” Complete Set – Eight 5” x 1-3/8”, hand-cut pieces, each fully printed with a single vertical packaging fold at center, generally EX to EX/MT; “Henry Heide” Mailing Envelope – Addressed to a collector of the period and postmarked in 1902, this 6-1/2” x 3-3/4” envelope (GD) conveyed the panel and the set, likely in response to a special request, across town in New York. The piece is elaborately printed on the front side with Heide advertising and graphics.
