Ty Cobb, The Georgia Peach, retired in 1926 with the highest average in baseball history, a record that still stands today. As great as his hitting was, however, Cobb was known more for being the fiercest competitor in baseball history. He never gave an opponent an inch, and he took every advantage he could get. He led the league in hitting 1905-1915 and 1917-1919. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1936. Incredible large black pen signature on the lower right hand corner of the 8 x 10 tinted color photo of Cobb in a Detroit Tigers uniform swinging his bat. Certainly one of the best signed Cobb photos and the only color photo of him I've seen signed! Dated "6/27/60." This was in person during breakfast. A "Bill Slate", Dalton Georgia, production - Bill obtained pictures of great players, made the appropriate copy and then using color paints, recreated full color hand painted pictures. Seldom seen, and Bill shared this one with Mr Morey who obtained the signature in person. The black ink is the India Ink seldom seen our used to day - but it creates a superior signature. Mint!
