The legacy of most souvenir lapel pins is generally discernible. Regarding this Babe Ruth piece, however, virtually no trail of information is in the offing. It bears no identification as to its manufacture, and it simply conveys a photo portrait of the great Yankee slugger. The piece is 3/4” in diameter, and we’re fully content that it’s of period vintage … as a function of light oxidation in the reverse and its unusual needle attaching device (“kinked” in the stem to safeguard against accidental impaling). The pin’s condition is qualified by a few small stain spots, generally in the perimeter. Its surface contour and gloss are impeccable and, all matters considered, this very obscure antique - dating to the late '20s or early 1930s - is in EX-EX/MT condition.
