Few other stars of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s conjure the kind of feelings that the great Pittsburgh Pirates great Roberto Clemente does. Because of his sudden and tragic passing at the young age of 38, collectible material directly related to Clemente is relatively rare and quality signatures on baseball have long been a treasured keepsake for collectors. This is a mostly-clean Official NL Giles baseball that is signed by three late-1960s Pirates. Thankfully, the Roberto Clemente signature is the nicest in terms of condition of the three and rests on a side panel. There are several unusual areas of concentrated dark toning that are difficult to explain but the area of Clemente's signature is mostly free of it outside of the bottom half of the "C" in his last name and the darkness and depth of the autograph is about 8 of 10 in quality.
